Bedford High School for Girls, founded in 1882, has a long tradition of academic excellence, diversity of opportunity and the highest standards in pastoral care.

The on-site Junior School provides an ideal foundation as pupils have the benefit of specialist teachers and use main school facilities whilst enjoying their own purpose built accommodation.

In the Senior School a choice may be made from 15 GCSE subjects, 30 A Levels and the International Baccalaureate. Academic results are consistently high. There are 11 laboratories for Science teaching. Modern Foreign Languages, the Creative Arts and ICT are particular strengths.

Provision for sport is excellent. Equipped with excellent facilities for a range of sporting and arts activities, the Sports and Performing Arts complex, offers a 25m swimming pool, gym, multi function room and sports hall, in addition to the generous playing fields. Teams excel in lacrosse, hockey, tennis, netball, swimming and rowing at county and national levels. Emphasis is placed on realising the potential of the individual.

Almost all Sixth Formers continue their education at university with a number of Oxbridge entrants each year.

There are outstanding opportunities beyond the curriculum with over 30 different activities from which to choose.

As well as approximately 650 day girls there is a vibrant community of 130 girls from all over the world living in a family atmosphere under the care and guidance of teaching housemistresses with a full range of weekend activities.
