School Fees Insurance

Why take out school fees insurance?

If a child is absent from school because of illness, injury or for any other reason, the school will not refund fees for the days missed. A school fees insurance scheme provides a refund of fees in the case of absence due to illness or accident. Payment is made after a specified minimum period of absence (normally from 4 - 8 days, depending on the scheme). Absence must be verified to the insurer by the school and by the child's GP. The termly premium ranges from 0.5% to 2.5% of school fees and parents should confirm to the school if they wish to purchase school fees insurance.

This type of school fees insurance is quite distinct from insurance intended to cover the parents' inability to pay school fees through their own long-term illness or another major cause of loss of income. Parents are strongly recommended to consult a specialist adviser for their own insurance requirements in this respect.
