 Reviews | News | Alumni School ProfileWe provide education for children aged 3-9 years (developing in the future to 11 years) with characteristics associated with autistic spectrum disorders, asperger syndrome and related language impairments who academically may be able to attend mainstream school settings, but who may benefit from being taught within a small, specially designed environment away from the distractions of a typical classroom and school environment.
Running alongside a mainstream pre-school group, the specialist school group caters for a maximum of 6 children per class. Children can attend full-time or on a part-time basis.
The facilities, curriculum, teaching methods and communication systems used at The Cornerstone are designed to meet the specific needs of these children. Because specialist language and communication systems are available other children with special language needs may benefit from attending the specialist school group. Opportunities to integrate with all the children at The Cornerstone occur throughout the day.
